We help fleet operators reduce total cost of ownership, optimize assets, and cut operating costs — with expert-led strategy from operational efficiency to full electrification.
Fleet operators are under pressure from every direction — rising fuel and maintenance costs, tightening emissions regulations, aging assets, and the accelerating shift to electrification.
Urbanology combines deep technical knowledge with hard-won commercial experience to help you cut total cost of ownership, optimize your asset base, and build a clear, funded roadmap toward a cleaner, more efficient fleet.
Whether you're focused on cutting costs today, planning an electrification program, or both — we have the expertise to move the needle.
Comprehensive assessment of utilization rates, fuel and maintenance spend, route profiles, asset age, and depot infrastructure — identifying cost reduction opportunities and EV readiness in a single engagement.
Rigorous total cost of ownership modelling — fuel, maintenance, depreciation, financing, energy costs. A phased roadmap capturing near-term OpEx savings alongside long-term electrification strategy.
From depot layout to grid capacity analysis — hardware selection, energy management, demand response, and smart-charging integration to minimize infrastructure and energy costs.
People are the key to a successful EV rollout. Tailored training programs and change management frameworks that bring your drivers and operations teams along for the journey.
Governments and utilities offer significant funding for fleet electrification. We identify, apply for, and track every applicable incentive on your behalf — so you capture every dollar available.
Independent, data-driven asset selection across vans, trucks, and specialist vehicles — conventional, hybrid, or electric. No manufacturer bias, only best fit for your specific use case.
Our free fleet assessment is the ideal first step — no obligation, tailored to your challenges.
No long-term contracts. No fluff. Just results.
We analyze your fleet across routes, utilization, fuel spend, maintenance, and asset age — identifying where the biggest efficiency gains are hiding.
A prioritized plan — asset right-sizing, OpEx reductions, vendor negotiations, and a phased electrification roadmap where it makes financial sense.
We find every available grant, tax credit, utility incentive, and subsidy — capturing every dollar available to fund your improvements.
Hands-on support through execution — vendor management, driver training, and ongoing performance monitoring to make sure results stick.
From government agencies to private logistics — if you run a fleet, we can help you run it better.
Public sector fleets face unique procurement constraints, emissions mandates, and community accountability. We understand the federal and local landscape — from military to transit authority.
Utility fleets operate across vast service territories with strict reliability demands. We bring direct experience managing large-scale utility assets and navigating the complexities of internal electrification programs.
Last-mile and regional delivery operators are under intense pressure on cost and emissions. We help you find the electrification path that pencils out — and fund as much of it as possible.
Public transit electrification involves complex stakeholder alignment, federal funding programs, and depot infrastructure at scale. We've worked with agencies managing thousands of vehicles.
From field service fleets to corporate campuses, we help private operators cut TCO, meet sustainability commitments, and build a practical electrification roadmap their CFO can sign off on.
We also work with vehicle manufacturers, charging networks, and fleet technology companies who need independent market expertise and operator access to validate products and drive adoption.

Joel Torr is a results-driven executive with over 15 years at the forefront of zero-emission vehicles and commercial fleet electrification. His career spans engineering, business development, and executive leadership at some of the most influential companies in the EV space — from Proterra, where he helped set a record-breaking 603-mile single-charge journey, to Ford Pro, where he led a 30+ person global team growing the charging and energy business to $19M in annual revenue.
As Head of Business Development at Electriphi, Joel played a pivotal role in the company's acquisition by Ford Motor Company — having brought Ford in as a strategic investor just months earlier. At ViriCiti (acquired by ChargePoint), he scaled North American revenue by 250%, optimizing EV fleet operations for public and private transit operators across the continent.
Joel founded Urbanology to bring that rare combination of deep technical knowledge, executive sales experience, and real-world fleet operations expertise directly to fleet operators — whether they're focused on cutting costs today, optimizing their asset base, or planning a full transition to electrification. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University and has worked across OEMs, high-growth startups, utilities, and government fleets throughout his career.
Ajay Chawan is an advanced transportation process and technology expert who has worked with some of the largest fleets in the United States — including the 51,000 non-tactical vehicles of the U.S. Army, the 12,000 assets deployed across seven states by Exelon Corporation, and the 4,000 vehicles operated by the New York MTA. His work has given him a deep mastery of best practices for vehicles, facilities, fuels, and the technology solutions that measure and manage asset performance.
Ajay has also held roles at three global automakers, contributing to the development and launch of vehicles equipped with ACES technologies — autonomous, connected, electric, and shared. His breadth of experience across the public sector, utilities, and the automotive industry gives him a uniquely comprehensive view of fleet operations — from procurement and infrastructure through to performance measurement and total cost of ownership analysis.
He holds degrees in engineering and business from Syracuse University, the University of Michigan, and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Based in Northern Virginia / Washington D.C., Ajay brings federal, utility, and transit fleet expertise that few consultants can match.
